Dog, Cat, ARC
Well, it's been another crazy couple of days.
After twelve days of fun, the dog we found is now back with her owners, and that was a sad day. I really, really hope they use the leash and collar we gave them but I don't see it happening, unfortunately, and so she'll probably end up back out in the road again someday. Of course we didn't know this when we took the call and her owner said the dog rarely even goes outside and no one knows how she got away, etc, etc.. Then, when we got there and the man came out, he slips up and says Yeah, she usually comes out front here to greet us whenever we get home...
Uh, really? That would indicate that she's left outside loose, all the time.
Sometimes doing the right thing doesn't end up the way you hope.
But I do think they love her, as she was sweet and cheerful and never cringed or exhibited any sign of fear to either one of us, and she was gentle and friendly with the cats, and so I'm going to hope for the best.
The next day (Sunday) I was lucky enough to catch one of the feral/stray female cats living on my property, and then I was lucky enough to catch her sister, and I took them in for exams, shots, and spaying. They're beautiful, warm, loving and funny girls, and I've been feeding them and getting them to trust me for a long time, and hallelujah, it worked. They're here in my studio with me now, crated and recuperating, sweet as lambs. I still have to catch the rest of their small family and tote them to the vet's too, but I'm really happy with how it's turned out so far.
The final page proofs for ORDINARY BEAUTY are done -- yay, I made my deadline! -- and if you're a book reviewer or a book blogger, please scroll down to my previous post because ARC time is coming and I'm taking names!
