Apples

When I woke up this morning it was cold and damp and raining, and so I finally gave in and loaded up the woodstove. It'll take a while till the chill is out of the air but I can wait because I love the coziness of the fire.

It was a good weekend. We went out to the apple festival (which was mobbed) and it was a gorgeous day. The air smelled like heaven, full of the scents of woodsmoke, apple dumplings, cider, old-fashioned fresh roasted peanuts

and delicious coffee smoothies

and there were tons of crafters there, so we picked up some primitive art and I got a lovely wooden crow on a stick for my studio. The horses were gorgeous, too.

When we left we did some exploring because the day was too beautiful to spend indoors. The trees are changing and the mountains are like a watercolor painting splashed with scarlets and copper and gold.

I always say spring is my favorite season and it's true, but this weekend autumn became a close second.
