Fall is apparently major appliance shopping season, as once the first leaf turned golden and fell from the butternut tree, both my washing machine and the dishwasher gasped one last time and pretty much gave up the ghost. The washing machine's been cranky for a while so I'd planned on that, but the dishwasher caught me by surprise. 

I'm glad, actually. I needed a good reason to update, and here it is. Let's see how these new appliances do once they're here and installed.

My boyfriend surprised me too yesterday, by disassembling one of his guitars, stripping and refinishing it. He's got a great eye and is really good at detail work, so it's going to look gorgeous when it's done.

I'm wrestling with one of my favorite characters right now because there's something I need her to say to advance the story, and she just won't say it. It's driving me mad, but the good part is that sooner or later she'll get fed up with my meddling, just spit out the line in her own words and voila, the problem would be solved.
