The Last Summer Concert

I would have posted sooner but I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to get my stellar pictures of Saturday night's Outlaws concert up at Penn's Peak out of my camera. We had a fabulous time -- ran into Henry Paul and Billy Crain out by the bus and they hailed us over, so we got to hang out and enjoy for a while -- had a nice dinner in the restaurant, then traded our front row seats for standing up by the stage, two people in. Even though I've seen this fabulous, rockin band -- what, five times now? -- their talent, skill and energy still knocks me out.

It was pouring on the ride home -- FINALLY -- and happily, hasn't stopped since. The garden is drinking it all up and handing me back cukes, tomatoes and carrots but thanks to the month+ without water, I scrapped the poor turnips and beets and am trying them again.  I have some melons and squash coming along, too, all still the heirloom veggies. And today I prepped and froze tomatoes, tomato juice, and sliced and shredded zucchini. I may go and freeze some kale tomorrow. The best kale recipe I ever tasted included kale sauteed in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic and pinoli nuts. Yum.

So it's been a relaxed, cozy couple of days. Right now I'm watching a horror movie/thriller that is so irritating it's stirring me up good, which means my imagination is rolling and that's ALWAYS a good thing.
